Oyster mushroom

This is the M. Oyster mushroom aka Pleurotus Ostreatus. It means ‘side ear oyster’, which refers to the attachment of the stem and the oyster-shaped mushroom cap. Cool, right!

The taste of the M. Oyster mushroom is very mild, and some describe it as subtly woody or like seafood. It has a very meaty texture.

Oyster mushroom is the rich source of protein, vitamins, minerals, fibre and iron. A healthy choice!

Water is the greatest enemy of oyster mushrooms. Store them in a loose paper bag (not plastic) in the fridge for up to three days.
