LE * MON * GRASS (SEREH)

Lemongrass

Lemongrass, originally an Indian grass that now grows all over the world, where it is warm enough. The stems used to be available only dried, frozen or powdered, nowadays fortunately also fresh! Lemongrass tastes and smells nice and fresh and strong like lemon. Indispensable in Indonesian cuisine. Lemongrass is usually stewed whole (bruised and/or knotted) in stews and soups. In Thailand it is also cut into rings and used in salads or curry paste (top, butt off and outer leaf removed first).
