These are our peppers. We have many different ones, from normal to super spicy. Red peppers are green before they ripen. They are also eaten in that state. You can compare this to the bell bell pepper, which by the way is also a pepper, in a very mild version. There are now other color varieties such as yellow, white and orange. Because green peppers keep longer, plants are grown in which the green variant is already edible. The yellow and orange varieties are grown to have more variety and because they look super cool!
