Cordyceps is a wild mushroom that looks like carrot strings. Its flavour is nutty and mild. They are rare, but some restaurants serve it with mashed potatoes or a nice piece of meat or fish. Cordyceps has also been used as an important ingredient in Chinese herbal medicine for more than 2,000 years and has a strengthening and uplifting effect on the body and mind.
It grows at 3000 to 5000 metres altitude in the Himalayan high mountains and other mountain ranges in Tibet and China and is also cultivated today, on starchy soil.
